Freddy started his career “at the top”, when he trained as a Butler and went on to look after significant political and entertainment personalities for a few years at The Oberoi, New Delhi. As Maître d'hôtel at The Imperial, New Delhi, Frederick was also responsible for training and development of the team.
He then decided to enhance his career by moving into education and training. With the support of National Hospitality Institute, where he has been with since April 2004, he gained professional certifications as an NVQ assessor and internal quality assurer, internal auditor, and, in teaching skills and practice. Besides, being a hospitality trainer, Frederick is also approved to deliver Food Safety and HACCP courses at various levels certified by Highfield, UK.

Shabu began his career as Commis-3 with Casino Hotel, Kochi in India, after completing his training at the Food craft Institute Kalamassery, India. He continued his career through various other catering establishments including star hotels, Flight catering, catering supply companies holding different job roles. After working for a few years at Muscat inter-continental hotel as Demi-Chef de partie, he joined NHI in 2000 as Kitchen technician /Assistant Instructor in the Food production department and trained Kitchen assistants. Gaining a vast experience in teaching Kitchen Assistants and Cooks, he now heads the department.
Shabu enjoys the teaching field and the teaching skills as it is a learning method as well as sharing and contributing his experience to the students. Shabu has qualified himself with Train the Trainer; A1 Assessor award and V1 Verifier Award from City and Guilds, UK. He is internationally certified to train Food Safety & HACCP programs up to level 4 approved by our affiliated awarding body, Highfield, UK. He is also certified to train the Muscat Municipality approved Food Safety for Supervisors in food businesses.
AYESHA GODINHO
Team Leader – Gulf Travel School
Ayesha began her career in the Aviation Industry in 2000 with Gulf Air where she successfully completed her Cabin Crew training. During which she attended pre-flight briefings, attended to passengers from diverse cultures. She also represented Gulf Air in the Asian Skal Assembly in Bahrain. She then was trained to work in First and Business Class and developed excellence in Customer satisfaction and attended to VIP passengers onboard.
Ayesha has been training for over 17 years at the National Hospitality Institute, her primary responsibility is delivering and assessing the IATA, and the Cabin Crew training.
Ayesha is the catalyst who gives the students the drive, skills and belief that their dream career is attainable. Students will find her classroom a place to express themselves, learn and also be confident to enter the professional world.
Haroun began his hospitality career with Shangri-La Muscat, after completing his training at the National Hospitality Institute. He later moved to Grand Hyatt Muscat as Demi chef De Partie. He then joined National Hospitality Institute in Aug 2009 as a chef Instructor and was promoted to Assistant Team Leader for NHI’s Gulf Chef School in 2019.
Haroun is a very hard working, goal oriented and sincere individual with excellent preparation and service skills. Always eager to learn & develop his skills to enhance customer satisfaction. He is able to work in a fast paced environment and always happy to accept challenges that come his way, taking them as an opportunity to learn and grow. He is positive and enjoys working with diverse cultures in the hospitality industry.

HAROUN AL BALUSHI
Internal Quality Assurer & Lead Verifier
GINA MACLEAN
Gina has been working with National Hospitality Institute for the last 27 years in various job roles. After achieving her Hospitality Management diploma in 1984, Gina joined the Lakeside in England’s Lake district as a General Assistant covering several departments , with a focus in Food and Beverage ending in a restaurant manager role overseeing two restaurants with a total of 200 covers. After leaving the Lakeside in 1986 Gina went on to work in Bristol where she was employed as Assistant Manager this time with a strong focus on Front Office. After being requested by Lakeside Hotel to return she did so in 1987 as Personnel and Training Manager. A major achievement in this role was to gain levy exemption from the government training body HCTC.
On leaving Lakeside for a second time Gina returned to Wales to run her family restaurant. Gina moved to Oman in 1995 and took up the role of Housekeeping Instructor at the National Hospitality Institute ( NHI ) followed by Front Office in 1999. Through her ability to understand several areas Gina is now the Lead Verifier for NHI's Quality Assurance system which enables students to achieve international certificates.
ANAGH SHARMA
Instructor – Gulf Chef School
Anagh has completed Bachelors degree in Hotel Management from Mysore University, and Masters in Hotel Management from Anna Malai University and MBA from Mahamaya Technical University in India.
He has over 17 years of teaching experience, starting his career in 2006, as an Associate Professor of Food Production in U.P technical University and Member of technical board in U.P technical University until 2014. He joined NHI in August 2014.
After joining NHI, he completed his diploma in Hotel Management awarded by AHLEI, USA. Through City and Guilds, UK, Anagh has qualified the Level 3 Award in assessing competence in the work environment and the level 4 TAQA Award in Internal quality assurance of assessment processes and practices.
ABDULLAH AL BALUSHI
Team Leader - Front Office
Abdullah began his hospitality career with Grand Hyatt Muscat as a Receptionist after completing his vocational training at the National Hospitality Institute. In 2003 he resigned from there, holding the position of Assistant Front Office Manager and joined NHI as an Instructor of Front Office and is currently heading the division.
Abdullah has qualified himself with Train the Trainer; A1 Assessor award and V1 Verifier Award from City and Guilds, UK. Abdullah is internationally certified to train Food Safety & HACCP programs up to level 4 approved by our affiliated awarding bodies, CIEH, UK and Highfield, UK. He is also certified to train the Muscat Municipality approved Food Safety for Supervisor’s course.
